Fellow Hookers,
Weather has turned cold here in Montana with temps below freezing at night and highs in the low 50s during the day. Saving grace is the clouds that bring nice BWO hatches in the afternoon.
Not many clients anymore and getting ready to close up shop. This means time for guides to go fishing! Checked out a place called Rock Creek yesterday and caught some nice cutthroats in the 16″ – 18″ range on BWO emergers & pheasant tail nymphs. Wade fishing; nice change from boat fishing all season.
I will be going to a family reunion in Myrtle Beach, NC this whole next week, then coming back here for a couple weeks to winterize the lodge and close up shop. Then I should be back in Wisconsin and looking forward to catching up with my fellow hookers. Thinking some fly tying parties are in order!
I have attached some pic’s of some of my most recent exploits, but for a more detailed account I invite all the hookers to find me on facebook. here, I have a photo album entitled “Sheila’s Big Montana Adventure”. I update on a regular basis.
See you all soon!
Sheila

Sheila Meisel on the Bitterroot in Montana
I have been busy as usual here in Montana.
Fishing on the Clark Fork has slowed down considerably as the weather is much warmer than usual. It’s a guessing game all day as to what they are taking, if anything at all. But we still manage to boat many fish each day here at Clark Fork River Outfitters.
I’ve been fishing & rowing with other guides & outfitters all week on new sections of the Clark Fork and spent two days on the Bitterroot. Fishing on the Bitterroot is off the hook with all fish being boated in the 17″ – 20″ range and all big fatties! Caught one on Thursday that spit out another fish he was eating as I pulled him to the surface. What hogs!
Both the Clark Fork & Bitterroot are doing well still on hoppers & turk’s turantula’s during the heat of the day. Morning & evening we’ve been doing well on Quigley’s Cripple, Purple Haze, Large Caddis Patterns & as always the Royal Wolfe.
First student arrived for the fall guide school. Let the abuse begin! Ha Ha Ha (evil laugh)
Pictures attached of my most recent exploits.
tight lines fellow hookers,
Sheila Meisel
