The streams are back to normal after last weeks flooding. They are perfectly fishable for the remainder of the Trout season!!! Stop in to my fly shop to get your stream supplies. The “Closing Ceremonies” fly shop sale began on Saturday night at the Northern Driftless Area Season End 2010 Gala, and continues through the end of October! Come in and find lots of GREAT DEALS! Incidentally, the paintings of Sporting Artist Bob White will be displayed in the NEW Kinnickinnic Gallery until the end of October! The gallery is open during fly shop hours or by appointment. It’s time to get some good paintings in your office, stop in and see your options!

Kinni Blown Out for Trout Fishing

The Kinni is blown out after last nights storm. It normally runs at 85 cubic feet per second, today it is running at 2600 cfs. It is going to take a few days for this to clear out. Hopefully all of our trout won’t end up in the Gulf of Mexico!

Tree fell and floated by a few minutes ago!

This sign is 3.5 feet tall and is completely under water this morning.

Greetings from the banks of the Kinnickinnic River! The fly fishing for Trout has been absolutely spectacular this spring! I’m once again offering fly fishing schools and happen to have a few openings. You can see the school schedule at http://www.kinnicreek.com/fly-fishing-school.htm
I’ve got 2 openings for the Ladies fly fish school on Sunday, June 20th. With oportunities for Co-ed’s July 10th (5 hour), July 11th (2 hour), August 14 (5 hour) and Sept. 11th (5 hour). Call right away if you would like to register for one of these schools 1-877-504-9705.

Free Fishing Weekend! June 5th-6th, 2010

Free fishing weekend events are a great opportunity for childrent to learn how to fish.

Every year, the first consecutive Saturday and Sunday in June is designated as Free Fishing Weekend throughout the state of Wisconsin. All the waters of the state are open, including state waters of the Great Lakes and rivers bordering Wisconsin. Residents and nonresidents of all ages can fish without a fishing license (or trout or salmon stamps) over these two days. However, all other fishing regulations (length limits, bag limits, etc.) apply.

Pack up the family or call your friends and head to the water. Fishing clinics and special activities are planned at state and local parks throughout Wisconsin. No fishing pole? No worries! Contact a Tackle Loaner site at one of several state parks and DNR regional offices to borrow one.

Because children under the age of 16 do not need a fishing license to fish on any day of the year, the motto for Free Fishing Weekend could be, “Take a grown-up fishing!”
